OUR TEAM

“Wow, this place is like a of fine piece of furniture. I’ve measured for all of the interior trim, interior doors and flooring in every room and everything is dead on. You can tell you guys really cared. I’ve measured a lot of homes and this is one of the best frames I’ve ever seen.”

"We are thrilled with our guest house that Vinland Construction expertly built. The project was on time, on budget and clearly on the mark. Additionally, the attention to (even) the smallest of details and constant communications made us feel far less stressed when undertaking this significant construction project. Our extended families, as well as many visiting friends, always have wonderful things to say about this "special home" when they sign our guest book."—Dottie and Barry Sullivan

meet the owner

After spending two years pursuing studies in the fine arts at the Oregon Art Institute, Nick Bologna returned east to the University of Massachusetts where he graduated with a BS degree in Anthropology. His passion for art continued and was transformed into a passion for creating and building homes.

Nick is a talented and accomplished woodworker and framer, who realizes the interconnection of the two. He explains: “A straight and true frame makes for even better finish work, plain and simple. Problems and inconsistencies have a tendency to magnify as you go down the line. You have to strive for perfection in every stage of the
process or else it can throw of the next step. A foundation that is slightly out of level, can affect the rest of the build if not corrected in the early stages. If you strive for perfection in each and every step of the build, the end product will be superior.”

Nick enjoys bringing home building projects to fruition, and the challenges and the opportunities presented by framing complex roofs and staircases. A master cabinet and furniture maker, he loves the design process and adding his personal touches to the houses he builds. Nick has the rare ability to design on the go, in the field, and to work with the homeowner to come up with new solutions for areas and details that may otherwise have been overlooked.

Nick lives in Aquinnah and enjoys the “up-island” life. Nick is an avid fisherman, hunter and surfer. He mostly enjoys spending time with his wife Susie, children Charlotte and William, and their two black labs, Jem and Scout.
